Trijntje Kootstra MA (Winschoten, the Netherlands, 1964) studied ‘Management and Policy in International Organisations’ at the University of Groningen. In the past twenty years, Trijntje has worked for the Foundation against Trafficking in Women (‘Stichting tegen Vrouwenhandel’, currently named ‘Comensha’), Amnesty International, VieJa Utrecht (women’s shelter), ICCO (development cooperation) and STI AIDS Netherlands. As a result, she has gained extensive knowledge of policy as well as practice.
Trijntje is a co-founder of the La Strada network in which Central and Eastern European organisations work together to tackle traffic in human beings. She is also known for her involvement in the initial development of a value-chain approach to traffic in human beings in the Netherlands.
Above all, Trijntje Kootstra is passionate. Her infectious enthusiasm connects diverse parties and target groups and she is driven by human rights, which has formed the central theme in her career.
