Project ‘Safe return and reintegration of victims of trafficking in women’.
Employed by: the Dutch Foundation against Trafficking in Women and ICCO (‘Inter Church Organization for Development Cooperation’)
Joint project involving ICCO and the Dutch Foundation against Trafficking in Women. Development of a network of organisations in Eastern Europe and Asia; research on the return of victims of traffic in human beings; and lobbying to place the issue of traffic in human beings on the European Parliament’s political agenda.


1995 - 2003
‘La Strada Program: Prevention of Traffic in Women in Central and Eastern Europe’
Employed by: Dutch Foundation against Trafficking in Women
Project development and management of the first NGO network against trafficking in women in Central and Eastern Europe. Managed national coordinators; responsible for fundraising and strategic policy.
La Strada focuses on the prevention of trafficking in women, relief for returning victims and political lobbying within three continuous campaigns. Within eight years, La Strada was founded and developed into an international network organisation in eight countries, with an international secretariat in Amsterdam. Comensha (former Foundation against Trafficking in Women) is the ninth member of La Strada.

1993-1995    
Project ‘Integration of relief for and recognition of victims of trafficking in women’
Employed by: Dutch Foundation against Trafficking in Women
Project development and management of a network in the province of Gelderland (Arnhem, Apeldoorn and Nijmegen), in which social organisations worked together to optimise relief for victims of trafficking in women. Management of the project team and maintenance of close cooperation with social services, Municipal Health Services (GG&GD), ambulatory psychological services (RIAGG), lawyers, the police and victim service (Bureau Slachtofferhulp).
This project formed the first Dutch initiative for a value-chain approach to relief for and recognition of victims of human-trafficking. It formed the blueprint for the development of similar networks regarding human-trafficking in the Netherlands.
